About You
To succeed in this role, you will have significant experience in employee relations and a strong understanding of industrial relations practices. You will be confident in handling complex cases with sensitivity and professionalism, and you will have a collaborative approach to working with different stakeholders across the organisation.
Your excellent communication and relationship-building skills will allow you to act as a trusted advisor to managers and P&C teams. You will be solution-focused, with the ability to manage competing priorities while maintaining a commitment to achieving the best outcomes for the business and its people.

About the Role:
The Employee Relations Advisor is a crucial member of the People & Culture (P&C) team at Wellways. In this role, you will manage complex employee relations matters, including performance issues, workplace investigations, grievances, and IR/ER cases. You’ll provide expert advice to P&C Business Partners, managers, and teams across the organization, ensuring that best practices are applied to workplace relations.
You’ll focus on high-risk, challenging cases, providing technical expertise in areas such as performance management, misconduct, redundancy, work health and safety (WHS), and more. You will also contribute to the development and implementation of policies and procedures that align with operational and strategic goals.
Key Responsibilities:
- Leadership: Collaborate with the Workplace Relations Manager to enhance IR/ER processes and provide consultative leadership across the organization.
- Relationship Building: Develop trusted advisory relationships with P&C Business Partners and managers, providing guidance on IR/ER policies and procedures while supporting employees with grievances and complaints.
- Technical Expertise: Manage complex cases, including performance issues, grievances, workplace investigations, and disputes. Stay informed on legislative updates and industry best practices.
- Employee & Industrial Relations: Lead case management for high-risk issues, including performance, misconduct, WHS, restructures, and compliance with policy and legislation.
- People Development: Contribute to the design of leadership development programs and support the rollout of P&C policies, procedures, and training.
- Work Health & Safety (WHS): Support WHS initiatives and the Return to Work process for injured workers.
To be successful in this role you will also need:
- Tertiary qualified in HR related discipline and/or significant and substantial experience in a similar role
- Evidence of working rights within Australia (birth cert/passport/visa)
- Satisfactory National Police Check (within 12 months)
- Blue Card and NDIS Worker Screening Check/Yellow Card QLD
- NDIS Worker Orientation Module Certificate – free online course
