Role Summary

The Australian Client Servicing team provides support for our clients across both Asset Manager and Asset Owner client groups, covering large institutional clients including Sovereign Wealth and Superannuation Funds. The clients are supported by the client service managers who have day to day contact across the range of services supported by our operational teams and ultimately working closely with the Relationship Manager.

The Relationship Manager is responsible for managing relationships for clients across a range of services. You will utilize knowledge of master custody services to exceed client expectations and to add value to the relationship. This will involve being a passionate client advocate with the ability to navigate the global Northern business effectively and efficiently service the client.

This role will report to the Head of Client Services for Asset Owners.


We are open to either Melbourne or Sydney locations.

What you will do

Manages client relationships who take a variety of fund administration and custody services Ensures overall client satisfaction by facilitating efforts of service teams, coordinating resources to ensure timely delivery and issue-resolution, and effectively communicating client concerns/needs across the organisation Develops a complete understanding of client's business, objectives, goals and market challenges Cultivates strong working relationships with client contacts Demonstrates ability to add value by anticipating possible solutions and partnering with client to implement Keeps client informed of emerging issues, products and services, regulatory/tax changes, and the general institutional trust environment, advising the client of the impact on the client's business and on our own services Cross-sells products/services and participates in development of solutions to client needs, coordinates presentations, brings in experts when appropriate, closes the sale, ensures smooth delivery of new services, and communicates emerging needs Manages client profitability, understands competitive environment, develops pricing strategies, and works with team to enhance profitability.

About You

Knowledge of asset servicing and superannuation acquired through related experience Strong awareness of risk to both the client and Northern Trust Analytical, problem solving, and organizational skills required to identify and resolve client issues  Evidence of both technical and strategic thinking Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work well with clients & internal partners Excellent communication skills- negotiation and influence and the ability to explain complex products/ process Proven experience in financial servicing, operations, superannuation with a client servicing background
