The Role

As the Governance and Assurance Manager you will lead a multi-disciplinary team responsible for governance, inventory and maintenance quality control assurance in accordance with legislative frameworks, government decision-making and Defence’s mission and policy requirements.

The role requires considerable stakeholder engagement and liaison with other Defence groups and services as well as industry partners and external contractors.

You will be responsible to identify and investigate complicated issues through analysis and stakeholder involvement to achieve quality outcomes.

About our Team
Joint Logistics Unit (North) provides logistics support to Australian Defence Force elements operating across the Northern Territory and Kimberley region. Logistics support consists of maintenance, warehousing, distribution, regional procurement, and clothing and loan pool services.

The Governance and Assurance section is the team primarily responsible for ensuring the compliance over the logistics services in accordance with Defence policy and procedures across all Commonwealth assets.

Our Ideal Candidate
Our ideal candidate will have outstanding judgement and leadership with a high degree of initiative, with demonstrated ability to conduct and manage high-level liaison and negotiations with key internal and external stakeholders. Guiding, mentoring and developing people is also a key activity of this role. As a leader of a small but dynamic team, you will need to be a skilled written and verbal communicator and have the ability to give direction in an integrated workforce to deliver on organisational capability and responsiveness.

The ideal candidate must be able to demonstrate:

Relevant qualification or equivalent relevant work experience in governance or assurance; and Experience in leading and managing teams through change to deliver results, while fostering a productive and positive team environment. Excellent verbal and written communication skills. A high attention to detail, with the ability to present ideas persuasively. Be trustworthy, transparent and possess the highest levels of integrity.
