Job Title: Data Governance Manager

Bank Australia Limited is seeking a highly skilled Data Governance Manager to join our Data Analytics and Insights Team at Head Office, Collingwood.

About the Role

This permanent, full-time position is responsible for implementing data governance and developing the enterprise capability. The role leads the bank in data management and control, minimising data risk, assuring data is compliant with regulatory obligations, uplifting data quality, and improving data literacy.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and maintain the Enterprise Data Management Framework, including all policies, processes, and guidelines.
  • Assess and rollout compliance to the Data Governance Policy to ensure that data supports operational needs and strategic objectives.
  • Collaborate with Enterprise Architecture, Information Security, and other teams to ensure that data is protected based on its classification, how it is handled, and stored.
  • Lead and grow a team of data governance specialists and data steward partners.
  • Provide data governance thought leadership and keep abreast of changing regulation and legislation related to data risk management and data governance.
Requirements

To be successful in this role, you will need:

  • Significant data governance experience, preferably in the banking or finance sector.
  • Experience in team leadership or people management.
  • Strong knowledge of APRA CPS234 and CPG235 and other data-related regulatory requirements.
  • Experience working with modern data governance and metadata management platforms.
  • Ability to break down complex problems and projects into manageable goals.
