About the Role

 
This is an exciting opportunity for 2 motivated Research Assistants to join our Self, Neuroscience and Psychosis (SNAP) project, funded by the Wellcome Trust (UK) and based at Orygen and the Centre for Youth Mental Health (CYMH). In this role, you will play a crucial part in testing a self-disturbance model of psychosis in young people, potentially impacting diagnostic, prognostic, and treatment decisions. You will work with a dedicated team and have the chance to gain hands-on experience in recruiting participants, conducting clinical interviews, and utilising cutting-edge neurocognitive techniques like EEG.

Your responsibilities will include: 

Identify and recruit research participants from a range of clinical programs and the community  Collect and record participant information and consent procedures ensuring confidentiality is maintained  Conduct research assessments according to a specific protocol of clinical, neurocognitive and neurophysiological tasks. 

Who We Are Looking For 
You excel in communication, organisation, and adaptability. We're looking for individuals motivated to contribute effectively to collaborative research. 

You will also have: 

A postgraduate degree (Honours, Masters or doctoral degree) in behavioural or social sciences or a related discipline.  A strong interest in youth-onset mental health disorders and mental health interventions, and an understanding of psychiatric diagnoses and disorders.  Strong ability and desire to build an academic or research career trajectory.  High level of proficiency in the use of standard application software such as the Microsoft Office suite.

This position requires the incumbent to hold a current and valid Working with Children Check to ensure the University provides a safe environment for everyone.
