In this pivotal role, the Assistant Director of the Technology Delivery Office will collaborate closely with the Director to shape strategic initiatives and oversee project portfolios.

The successful candidate will provide leadership, guidance, and support to project managers and team members while fostering a culture of collaboration, innovation, and continuous improvement within the Project Management Office (PMO).

Responsibilities:

  • Assist the Director in setting strategic direction and priorities for project management initiatives aligned with organisational goals.
  • Provide leadership and guidance to project managers and team members to ensure projects are executed effectively and efficiently.
  • Foster a culture of collaboration, innovation, and continuous improvement within the PMO.
  • Oversee the development and management of project portfolios, including prioritisation, resource allocation, and budget tracking.
  • Monitor project performance against established goals, metrics, and key performance indicators (KPIs), implementing corrective actions as needed.
  • Conduct regular portfolio reviews to assess project status, risks, and dependencies, communicating findings to senior leadership.
  • Drive continuous improvement of project management processes, methodologies, and tools to enhance efficiency and effectiveness.
  • Establish and enforce project management standards, policies, and governance frameworks across the organisation.
  • Ensure compliance with relevant regulations, industry standards, and best practices in project management.
  • Serve as a primary point of contact for senior leadership and stakeholders on project-related matters, providing regular updates and insights.
  • Facilitate communication and collaboration among project teams, stakeholders, and cross-functional departments to ensure alignment and transparency.
  • Manage expectations and resolve conflicts to maintain positive relationships and support project success.
  • Mentor and coach project managers and team members to build their project management skills and capabilities.
  • Identify training and development needs within the PMO, coordinating opportunities for skill enhancement and career growth.
  • Foster a supportive and inclusive work environment that promotes teamwork, accountability, and professional growth.

Qualifications:

  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in project management, with demonstrated leadership capabilities.
  • Experience working in government or similar regulated environments is highly desirable.
  • Proven ability to drive strategic initiatives and align project management efforts with organisational goals.
  • Strong understanding of project management methodologies, tools, and best practices.
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and problem-solving skills.
  • Experience in mentoring and coaching team members to enhance their project management skills and capabilities.
