As a Climate & Environment Specialist, you will deliver on Telstra’s strategic environment commitments and reporting requirements related to climate change, resource efficiency and other elements of our Sustainability Strategy, which in turn will maintain and enhance our brand/reputation as a sustainable and responsible business in the face of heightened customer, community and other stakeholder expectations.

You will contribute to key aspects of Telstra’s environment program, including:

  • Collecting and calculating environmental data and metrics, including identification of continuous improvement of data collection and reporting.
  • Analysis, modelling and forecasting in relation to environmental data
  • Collaborating internally and externally with customers, suppliers and other stakeholders on environmental topics.
  • Supporting environment disclosures including Sustainability Report, NGER, CDP, Climate Active, TCFD, APC and other voluntary and compliance reporting requirements.
  • Supporting internal (management and Board) environment reporting in relation to environment data and metrics
  • Supporting other environment program deliverables and activities as reasonably directed
  • Manage collection and calculation of environment related data including via Telstra’s sustainability reporting platform and other systems.
  • Engage with business stakeholders and cooperate closely with peers to compile datasets.
  • Identify continuous improvement of data and reporting systems to improve efficiency, streamline reporting and improve accuracy.
  • Convert data into insights that can be used to create business value.
  • Develop and maintain data models to support forecasting and strategy development
  • Be aware of trends in industry, identify emerging risks and opportunities related to environment

Qualifications and skills:

  • Demonstrable knowledge and experience related to environmental data and reporting at a corporate level across some or all of: NGER, APC, CDP, Climate Active, TCFD.
  • Significant experience of relevant carbon accounting frameworks.
  • Proven knowledge of data lifecycle management and understanding of complex corporate data architecture (preferably Telstra/ICT corporates)
  • Familiarity with broader environment, climate change and resource efficiency topics.
  • Proven skills in research, strategic analysis and synthesis of complex information, with the ability the generate usable insights from it.
  • Excellent attention to detail.
  • Broad business experience contributing to change programs across customer facing and delivery functions in a large, complex environment.
  • Experience working on program implementation to deliver customer and business outcomes.
  • Experience in operational areas, with a focus on reporting or project delivery.
  • Strong relationship-building and other soft skills.
