The Role

Collaborate closely with the business to facilitate the implementation of our business strategy leveraging our most valuable resource, Our People.

Reporting directly to the People and Capability Manager and overseeing your own portfolio, this role embodies a comprehensive generalist approach. It encompasses various critical areas such as employee relations, performance management, change management, workforce planning, engagement, training and development, recruitment and selection, as well as career and talent management.

This is a dynamic generalist role offering diverse responsibilities and opportunities for impactful contributions.This person will be able to work autonomously whilst remaining connected and collaborative to the wider team.

Frequent travel is an essential aspect of this role, involving visits to multiple sites within the company. Please note that the extent of travel will be determined by the business needs, and flexibility in travel arrangements is required accordingly.

Partnership

  • Work in partnership with HR Service Centre, payroll and the wider P&C team on people issues and initiatives
  • Embed and deliver strategic and operational initiatives to support the business aligned to Sector business plans
  • Develop and maintain constructive Union working relationships to deliver business outcomes

People Leadership

  • Demonstrates and role models the Enterprise Leadership competencies
  • Ensures consistent standard Performance plans in Success Factors

Key Accountabilities

  • Execute People Plans aligned with business strategy.
  • Maintain strategic relationships with senior management for achieving People objectives.
  • Foster a high-performance culture through quality people initiatives.
  • Provide timely and legally compliant advice on ER issues.
  • Contribute to talent identification, development, and sourcing.
  • Ensure efficient organisational design for strategy delivery.
  • Lead change management initiatives effectively.
  • Partner with business leaders in industrial relations negotiations.
  • Offer timely recruitment support aligned with budget and guidelines.
  • Promote understanding of policies and procedures for governance and compliance.
  • Actively contribute to workforce planning for efficiency.

Qualifications, skills, knowledge & experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in business, HR or related field and/or combination of relevant experience and education
  • Sound knowledge and application of employment law
  • Excellent judgement, initiative, interpersonal and communication skills
  • Ability to work under pressure whilst holding composure
  • Exceptional relationship building skills solid foundation in HR with an emphasis on ER/IR
  • Experience in a services-based environment (highly desirable)
  • National Police Clearance
  • Drivers license
