We are looking for a Contract and Procurement Manager- Studies to join our Rio Tinto Projects team to lead the procurement function for the APAC Portfolio of Studies.

This role is a great opportunity to lead and motivate the Contracts & Procurement Studies team and provide specialist advice and support to Study Managers and the broader Project Services team.

Reporting to the Senior Manager, Contracts & Procurement, you will be:

  • Partnering with Study Leads and Project Managers to deliver the project through study stage gates into execution
  • Leading the owner’s team contracts & procurement personnel embedded within the studies team
  • Managing procurement practices and ensuring compliance with Rio Tinto Projects systems, policies and procedures
  • Problem solving and providing advice to study managers and general managers regarding all procurement related issues including engineering & consultancy contracts, PM+ compliance, procurement & contracting plans and change management
  • Preparing and conforming contracts, as well as regular auditing of procurement reporting, change management and contract variations
  • Providing input into the development and improvement of procurement procedures and practices to ensure procedures meet or exceed industry current best practice
  • Key support to the Study Manger to lead the study through the stage gate process including providing strategic procurement advice  

Additionally, this role will require an individual with:

  • Extensive hands-on experience in Contracts & Procurement attained within a project environment
  • Extensive hands-on experience in Study environment within an Owner’s organisation
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills to build effective relationships with internal and external stakeholders
  • Thorough understanding of project management and procurement concepts

What you’ll bring

To be successfully considered for this role, you will have:

  • Extensive hands-on experience in Contracts & Procurement attained within a project environment
  • Extensive hands-on experience in a Study environment within an owner’s organisation
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills to build effective relationships with internal and external stakeholders
  • Thorough understanding of project management and procurement concepts

It will also be beneficial if you have:

  • Degree qualification in Business/Commerce/Law or similar
  • Previous success in leading a team of Contracts & Procurement professionals
  • Procurement experience across multiple project delivery models

You should also be passionate about delivering pragmatic, optimised solutions and have a drive for results and an appetite for a constructive challenge.
