Principal Solution Designer for UNITE

How will I help?

We are seeking an experienced Data Solutions Designer with a proven ability to lead solution engineers in defining high-quality, fit-for-purpose solutions that align with architectural directions and guidelines within complex and rapidly evolving data platforms.

Key responsibilities include: 

  • Conceptualize, define, design, and oversee the delivery of quality solutions for the UNITE portfolio, covering all impacted platforms within the Data Platforms GBU.
  • Establish collaborative and influential relationships with stakeholders, customers, and colleagues to ensure effective achievement of data solutions and options aligned with strategic data outcomes.
  • Engage with business and technology stakeholders to understand solution needs, delivery timelines, and business benefits.
  • Liaise with domain architects, information architects, business SMEs, and the wider Data Platforms community to identify potential synergies across domains and source high-value data for enabling data products.
  • Provide technical advice and guidance to engineers to ensure alignment with standards and controls supporting solution delivery.
  • Collaborate with engineers (both onshore and offshore) to ensure the successful delivery of solutions.

What do I need?

Technical Skills:

  • Extensive experience in data solution architecture and/or design within Banking, Finance, or data product environments.
  • Demonstrated experience in implementing data solutions on Teradata Warehouse, Big Data, SAS platforms, or related environments, ensuring alignment with architectural patterns to meet business requirements efficiently.
  • Proficiency in data warehouse ETL (preferably Informatica), data visualization and reporting tools (preferably Tableau/Power BI), and other tools such as SAS.
  • Knowledge of Azure Cloud-based Synapse, Python/Spark/Spark SQL, Hive, and HBase using various file formats, including the externalization of business rules from application code.

Experience:

  • Proven experience in leading data teams in designing and delivering optimized solutions.
  • Highly desirable experience in Data Modelling.
  • Experience with Agile methodologies to iterate quickly on conceptual and physical product design.
  • Employ CI/CD and DevOps/DevSecOps practices endorsed by Data Platforms and Group Technology to maximize the leverage of existing platform services.
