Our Client, Harrup Park, has an exciting opportunity for a professional, proactive and motivated, Qualified Chef. This position will offer you the experience needed to advance your career in food, working alongside a professional team, under the guidance of our Executive Chef. You will need to have a strong work ethic and a passion for great food to be a fit for their strong and enthusiastic kitchen team.

About Us 

Harrup Park is the leading sport, recreation, and entertainment venue in the Mackay region. The venue prides itself on providing the highest quality food, beverage, gaming, and event offerings available in Mackay.

They already boasted the best sporting facilities in the region however it’s now even better with the recent completion of the 25-million-dollar Great Barrier Reef Arena, springboarding their facility above any other in regional Australia.

They have a modern function Centre, 200 of the latest gaming machines, bars, a café, and the best outdoor garden bar in the region. 

Position Requirements

As a Qualified Chef, you will be responsible for the preparation of quality food for their Café, Bistro & Functions Departments. 

Your contribution in preparing consistent and quality food to menu guidelines and recipes is an essential asset. Effective menu planning involves not only creating well-balanced and appealing menus but also ensuring that each dish meets the highest standards of taste and presentation. As a valued team member they will expect high standards of not only food service but also personal presentation, hygiene, customer service and work ethic.

As part of your duties, you must always maintain a safe and clean work area. This includes complying with our implemented food safety program, as directed by senior kitchen personnel.

Essential Criteria

  • Chef trade qualifications
  • A genuine interest and passion for food and desire to work as part of a close knit team.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, and ability to work under pressure
  • Have extensive cooking experience and be able to lead by example and encourage other kitchen staff.
  • Ability to follow detailed recipes, adapt to menu changes, and contribute to a cohesive and efficient kitchen environment
  • Ability to train kitchen staff to ensure Company expectations are achieved
  • Responsibility for supervision of all food safety standards
  • High standard of personal presentation and hygiene
  • Available to work as per rostering requirements including nights, weekends and public holidays
  • Reliable and punctual
  • Ability to multi task and work effectively within a fast-paced environment
  • Ability to contribute to maintaining a clean, safe work environment
  • Proven ability to use initiative and be a self-starter
