About the university

The University of Notre Dame Australia is a private Catholic University with over 1,000 permanent staff providing an exceptional educational experience to over 12,000 students across our Fremantle, Broome, and Sydney campuses, as well as clinical schools in Victoria and New South Wales.

About the role

Student Ambassadors play an important role at Notre Dame. As representatives of the University, they assist with the delivery of events and activities that engage future students. These include outreach activities, student recruitment events, on-campus days, call campaigns, career expos, and mentoring. These activities offer opportunities for future students to discover Notre Dame and increase their understanding of university, degrees, support services, admission pathways and more.

Student Ambassadors are employed as casual staff at Notre Dame, provided with induction and training for the role, and offered work on an ad hoc basis throughout the year based on their availability and skill set.

Student ambassadors are paid at the HEW2.1 hourly rate in New South Wales and Western Australia. The role may require travel to and from high schools and other venues across either Greater Sydney, Perth or Broome.

Student ambassadors regularly work with students from groups that are traditionally underrepresented at university, such as Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander students, students from low socio-economic areas, students from regional and remote areas, and students who would be the first in their family to attend university. As such, we encourage students from these groups to apply

Student Ambassadors may undertake work with one or more of the following teams.

  • Prospective Students Office
  • Indigenous Student Support & Success
  • Student Equity

Key Responsibilities

  • Represent the University in a positive and professional manner at events including Open Days, university expos, on campus days for high school students, and events on high school campuses.
  • Proactively engage future students and other stakeholders (for example, parents, careers advisors, school principals and teachers) and share your experiences of university with diverse audiences.
  • Lead campus tours for individuals and groups of prospective students.
  • Deliver workshops and presentations to groups of high school students and parents about Notre Dame, admissions, scholarships, transition into university and what university is like.
  • Undertake tasks such as organising merchandise, data entry, event preparation, social media, and phone calls to students.
  • Attend training, team meetings, and other development opportunities as scheduled during the year.
  • Other duties depending on whether you are working for the Prospective Students Office, Indigenous Student Support & Success, or Student Equity.

Qualifications, skills & experience

  • Have completed at least one semester of study at the University of Notre Dame by the end of 2024 and have at least one year of study remaining.
  • Have a current Working with Children Check (WWCC) or be willing to obtain one.
  • Have excellent customer service skills.
  • Be available to work at events outside of regular business hours, including some evenings and weekends.
