About the Role:

The Occupational Hygiene and Environment Specialist isresponsible for developing and maintaining the organization's environment andhealth management system. This role supports HSEQ Managers and Advisors,participates in audits, and contributes to performance reporting. It alsoprovides strategic input into the national HSEQ Strategy and Annual ImprovementPlan.

HSEQ Management System
Act as the National Subject Matter Expert (SME) for occupational health and environmental management.
Enhance the environment and health management system as part of the national HSEQ/IRMS system.
Contribute to the development of the national HSEQ Strategy and Annual Improvement Plan.
Ensure the National management system drives compliance with Australian legislation and regulations for occupational hygiene and environmental management in the heavy construction materials industry.
Participate in audits and performance reporting.
Support the professional development of HSEQ Managers and Advisors in occupational health and environment management.
Develop training and communication materials for environmental and occupational health matters.
Collaborate with cross-functional teams to integrate health, hygiene, and environmental considerations into operations and project planning.

Verification (internal) Audits
Develop a rolling, risk-based audit schedule to measure compliance with the HSEQ Management system and regulatory requirements.
Conduct verification audits as scheduled.
Report on audit progress and actions.
Conduct specialist audits for critical control effectiveness.
Work with the Information Systems Analyst to automate routine auditing tasks.

Third Party Certification Audits
Support the HSEQ Compliance & Reporting Manager in annual and triennial management system audits.
Assist with resolving non-conformances related to environmental and occupational health elements of the HSEQ management system.

Background and Experience required:

A degree in Occupational Hygiene, Environmental Science, or a related field.
Professional certification in Occupational Hygiene or Environmental Management is preferred.
Experience in a similar role within a related industry.
Knowledge of occupational hygiene and environmental management within the heavy construction materials industry.
Familiarity with relevant Australian legislation relating to occupational health/hygiene and environmental management
Experience in developing and implementing HSEQ management systems and conducting audits.
Very Good Microsoft Office Suite Skills
