Our client is seeking a qualified and experience Chef to join their Café in Griffith, New South Wales.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Design and prepare traditional and innovative dishes, ensuring a harmonious balance of flavours and textures. Document and standardize recipes to maintain consistency.
  • Handle all aspects of food preparation, including chopping vegetables, marinating meats, and grinding spices, ensuring meals meet quality standards.
  • Monitor inventory levels, order fresh ingredients, and minimize waste to maintain optimal stock and ingredient freshness.
  • Supervise and mentor kitchen staff, such as assistants and line cooks, by providing training, guidance, and performance feedback.
  • Ensure the kitchen is clean, organized, and compliant with health and safety regulations. Oversee the upkeep of equipment to ensure smooth operations.
  • Taste dishes regularly to ensure flavour and quality meet expectations, incorporating customer feedback for continuous improvement.
  • Manage food budgets, reduce waste, and optimize the use of ingredients to control food costs and enhance profitability.
  • Innovate and refresh the menu by creating new recipes, including seasonal specialties that use fresh, locally sourced ingredients.
  • Follow local food handling, storage, and sanitation regulations. Implement safety measures to prevent kitchen accidents.
  • Interact with customers to explain menu offerings and gather valuable feedback for refining dishes and improving service.
  • Stay abreast of culinary trends and techniques by participating in industry workshops and courses to continually enhance culinary expertise.

Requirements:

  • Certificate III and IV in Commercial Cookery
  • Associate Degree, Advanced Diploma or Diploma in Hospitality Management
  • At least one (1) year of prior experience as a Chef
  • Prior experience in a Café would be highly regarded.
