In this role, you will lead, coordinate, and oversee the efficient operation of the Department's Growth Area Statutory Planning and Subdivision teams.
What you'll be doing:
Identify, lead, and advocate for system changes and process improvements to achieve efficient, effective, and customer-focused outcomes.
Lead cross-functional teams comprising Council Officers and external consultants to plan and deliver projects.
Provide leadership, supervision, and support to staff, with regular performance monitoring and feedback.
Identify training and development needs, and implement appropriate programs.
Foster a positive team culture.
Ensure adherence to policies including EEO and OH&S.
Guide and advise staff on business processes and systems related to statutory planning and growth areas.
Conduct staff appraisals and provide regular performance feedback.
Contribute to the coordination and administration of relevant statutory processes under the Planning and Environment Act 1987 and Subdivision Act 1988.
Represent Council at forums and events as required.
Develop and maintain cooperation with residents, officers, applicants, and the Department.
Lead the Department to provide high-quality, prompt, and courteous service to customers.
The skills and experience you'll bring to the role:
Tertiary qualification in Town Planning or related discipline.
Extensive senior-level experience in statutory and growth area planning within government or planning consultancy.
Understanding of community expectations in growth, interface, and rural communities.
Proven leadership, supervision, motivation, and team development skills.
Strong negotiation and conflict resolution skills, with experience dealing with diverse stakeholders.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, committed to customer service.
Ability to manage multiple projects and workload complexity.
Experience with process review and change implementation.
