About the team
SprayLine Road Services is an internal delivery team within the Department of Transport providing road maintenance services, construction and associated civil works, bituminous spray sealing and line marking to DoT, other state road authorities, municipal councils, and private industry. SprayLine Road Services delivers services locally within the communities and are committed to ensuring quality, innovative and sustainable outcomes.
About the Role
The Business Support Manager is responsible for leading a range of support services across operational teams and will drive continuous improvement, business efficiency and support a one SRS approach, working collaboratively across the business. Key functions include co-ordinating business planning, driving business improvement, review and refinement of business costs and critical financial analysis in conjunction with business partners, SRS wide procurement approaches, internal and external engagement and a range of administrative functions including records management, fleet management, timesheets, office supply and asset management.
The position reports to the Director Sprayline Road Services and is a senior leader in the Sprayline Road Services Team and wider Network Operations Division. The role is a key contributor to the operational and strategic direction of the Sprayline Road Services business. This role will lead an initial team of approximately 10 people providing a range of services to support a large operational business with over 200 staff delivering high risk construction and road maintenance services. Sprayline Road Services has commenced a review of the operating model across the business.
This role will lead a further review of support functions across Sprayline Road Services with a view of identifying opportunities to consolidate functions and drive business efficiency and better sharing of resources.
Key Outcomes
- Business Plans - Supports the development, implementation and monitoring of SRS strategic business plans and key initiatives. Support the Director SRS in all business submissions and requirements
- Effectively lead and manage the team to foster a constructive, affiliative and high performing culture; championing a diverse, safe and inclusive culture aligned with the department's values; Provide leadership, training, and support to SRS employees; Lead a culture within SRS which values teamwork, collaboration and supports the development and contribution of everyone.
- Effective engagement of key internal and external stakeholders and collaborative partnerships developed across SRS and the Department of Transport and other organisations, including the support and driving of opportunities to enhance and promote the SRS brand. Maintaining productive relationships and clear lines of communication with stakeholders.
- Foster innovation and continuous improvement through keeping abreast of emerging issues and trends, and collaboration with internal and external stakeholders to drive innovative solutions that lead to improved business efficiency and performance outcomes. Identify opportunities for improvement within SRS.
- Effective Business Processes - Develops and maintains business systems, processes and functions (e.g finance and business administration, procurement, process improvement and stakeholder engagement) that maximise business deliverables and outcomes, improve efficiency and cost effectiveness. Business process reviews and corporate costs undertaken and leads the development and implementation of new or enhanced business processes and reduction in support costs. Monitoring and influencing of business administration and support processes to ensure that they comply with company and SRS policies and procedures an includes leading the integration of new policies and procedures within SRS.
- Effective management of support functions including fleet management, records and document management, timesheets, office resources and assets, providing consistent, compliant and efficient processes, whilst promoting effective resource sharing and utilisation.
