The role of Manager Sustainability and Environment is responsible for the strategic planning, legislative compliance, delivery and operational management of the Sustainability and Environment Unit.

Specific knowledge and competencies will include:

- Demonstrated understanding of and expertise in current practices, policy directions and priorities relating to the delivery of conservation and natural area management.
- Demonstrated experience and capacity to run a public facing business such as coastal and waterways management, natural area management, conservation, sustainability, climate change and associated services.
- Demonstrated capacity for strategic thinking - the ability to think at a big picture level and take a long-term view in developing a vision for the future.
- Highly developed conceptual and analytical skills, including the ability to identify emerging issues, trends and risks, and impacts and the expertise to resolve complex operational program and service delivery issues.
- Demonstrated ability in initiating and managing change processes and performance management.
- Demonstrated commitment to people management practices that value continual learning and professional development.
- Demonstrated leadership skills including the ability to provide clear strategic objectives, inspire a positive attitude to work and to succeed and steer others towards successful goal and task accomplishment whilst promoting diversity in the unit.
- Demonstrated competence in managing priorities to meet business planning, program and statutory requirements.

The Manager Sustainability and Environment is one of Tweed Shire Councils Corporate Management Team and therefore sets and maintains the benchmark for professionalism, culture and integrity for the organisation. You will have strong capabilities to manage key stakeholder relationships whilst continuing to build organisational capability.

You must be an active and agile leader, progressive, collaborative with strong empathy and emotional intelligence. Building and driving a multi-disciplined team to short, medium
- and long-term targets. Experience and expertise in team performance, strategic planning, project management, performance reporting and stakeholder management is essential.
