JBS Australia's Southern Division, headquartered in Melbourne, has the largest multi-species processing facility in Australia, processing beef, sheep, and goats. JBS Southern processing facilities have access to all major international markets, providing our livestock suppliers with a range of markets and brand opportunities.

Reporting to the General Manager Value Add, the position of VA Manager will have a strong focus on managing production costs, processing yields and ensuring growth within our value added venture for JBS Australia.

**Responsibilities include (but are not limited to)**:

- Leading from the front while developing a strong team
- Able to impart specialist knowledge in relation to VA, technical process's, branding and best practice manufacturing.
- Able to utilise specialist technologies with an innovative approach to ensure product viability.
- Able to achieve operational efficiencies to support company growth and a superior end product.
- Understands and implement/enforce the requirements for each of the SOP's that are relevant to this department e.g. Allergen, EU, halal, SA, BSE etc.
- Directly responsible for value added room & associated operations
- Maintain current knowledge of relevant statutory export meat requirements and AQIS Notices and ensure that all statutory requirements are met
- Participate in training programs for Management Staff as authorised by the Plant Manager
- Carry out internal quality audits as directed by the FSQAM and ensure corrective action is taken when critical limits are exceeded
- Implement corrective action where processes do not conform to standards or limits prescribed in the FSQA Manuals
- Ensure inventory and stock levels are adequate for production requirements while following stock rotation procedures.
- Ensure production and quality targets are met
- Liaise with AQIS Inspection Staff in value added room.
- Liaise with Value Added Supervisor, FSQAM and FSQAO's on all matters relation to FSAQ and training
- Attend Management Review Meetings in the absence of the Value Added Room Supervisor.
- Understand and implement retail labelling requirements.
- Experience in portion cutting and maximising yield recovery.
- Experience in Allergen and cross contamination management.
- Experience in Lean Manufacturing and Business Improvement process.
- Experience in ERP system along with Microsoft Suite.
- Experience in Short shelf life products.

**About you**:

- Demonstrated commitment to meeting all requirements in relation to food safety, people safety and maintenance and enhancement of brand integrity.
- Sound technical knowledge of meat processing.
- Understand and comply with Workplace Health and Safety standard
- Demonstrated interpersonal and communication skills.
- Ability to work as part of the team and individually
- Ability to follow JBS Australia Policies and Procedures
