Great opportunity to join our Water and Wastewater - Operations team in a permanent full-time position.

We are seeking a trade qualified Leading Hand Fitter who is passionate about providing secure, reliable, affordable, sustainable and high-quality drinking water supply and wastewater services to our community and protection of the environment.

As the Leading Hand Fitter being part of our Water and Wastewater Operations team, you will organise and oversee the maintenance, repair and upgrade of water supply and sewerage facilities, pumping equipment, fixed plant and mechanical equipment. This equipment is located at numerous treatment plants, pumping stations, reservoirs, along the water and sewer networks across the Shire. These are essential services and the community expects a high level of reliability and performance. You will also be required to assist with mechanical and fitting support services to other sections of Council on occasions.

**About the role**:

- supervises our mechanical team during all maintenance activities on mechanical installations
- organises and allocates tasks
- 'hands on' role, completing minor works and assisting the field staff
- organise the installation, maintenance, repairs, upgrade of all water supply and sewerage facilities
- requires a broad range of trade skills and knowledge of mechanical equipment.

**We are seeking**:

- Trade Certification
- Demonstrated competence in mechanical installations, maintenance and pumping equipment.
- Demonstrated knowledge and experience in workplace safety procedures and implementation / monitoring in the field.
- A well organised and proactive leader with a passion for building and empowering a successful team.
- Ability to effectively communicate with professional, trade, contract and operational staff.
- Demonstrated ability to meet the requirements of 24 hour "On call" emergency response.
