**About the company**

JobQuest was set up by a group of concerned citizens and volunteers in 1987 to provide basic community services for disadvantaged people in Western Sydney. JobQuest has expanded its services from at-risk youth to include long-term unemployed, people with disabilities, mature-age job seekers, refugees, and other highly disadvantaged target groups. Now operating in both Western Sydney and Newcastle, it is JobQuest's aim to help disadvantaged members of the community to be resourceful, independent, self-reliant, and be connected and accepted by the general community and the public.

JobQuest also run the Home Interaction Program for Parents and Youngsters (HIPPY), a home-based early learning and parenting program that empowers families and carers to be their child's first teacher; and a Social Enterprise in property maintenance to provide work for disadvantaged job seekers such as long term unemployed, people with disabilities, refugees with limited language skills, homeless or at-risk youth.

**About the role**

At JobQuest we have seen growth in demand for our training progrms and we are looking for canidates who are interested in a career working with disadvantaged adults, young people or both if you like diversity in your work.

As a Trainer or Youth Programs staff member you will:

- deliver engaging training programs to students
- help students to build their capacity and confidence to enter the workforce or pursue further education.
- address employability skills and Language, Literacy, Numeracy and Digital skills (LLND). If you have seen the program 'Lost for Words', addressing LLND skills has life changing impacts.
- build rapport and work with clients from schools, Disability Employment Service providers, Workforce Australia Providers and other Community groups.
- report to the Youth Project Manager or VET Manager.

Note: This role may suit students looking to gain some further skills and experience to enhance their area of study, particularly those studying education, social science, or community services. Or recent graduates in these fields of study who want to build upon their training and facilitation skills.

**Duties**

You will be engaged primarily to deliver training to students and perform the following duties:

- participate in the student selection and assessment of student needs or suitability
- assist in following up on student outcomes for their area of employment services or placement support
- liaise with employers to organise work experience, work placement, and industry support
- undertake necessary planning and evaluation for training under the supervision
- complete the administrative paperwork required to support training programs
- assist more senior Trainer and Assessors or Youth Program Consultants, as needed

With the demand for programs growing, staff have opportunities to be part of designing, developing, and delivering new programs.

**Requirements of the role**:

- Interest in a career working with disadvantaged adults or with young people
- Desire to learn more about planning and delivering engaging, high-quality programs to groups of people;
- Drivers license and own reliable vehicle;
- Working with Children Check number and National Police Check (or willingness to obtain)
- Full COVID-19 Vaccination (including booster)

**Skills, Qualities, and Experience**
- Some experience in working with young people or adults (formally or informally);
- Reliable, punctual, team players with strong communication skills
- Ability to build rapport with people (team members, people, and stakeholders);
- Experience and understanding of the issues people face when entering the employment market, and skills in preparing people to be ready for this;
- Knowledge of the local labour/employment market (desirable)
- Strong computer skills - Google Workspace or MS Office is highly desirable;
- Training and assessment qualifications are highly regarded, or a willingness to undertake further study to complete this. JobQuest offers a structured pathway to work towards achieving the Certificate IV in Training and Assessment
