OverviewOn any given day Community Corrections is responsible for supervising approximately 18,000 individuals in the community.
Approximately 3,300 of these are Indigenous and 3,200 are female.
Community Corrections is divided into seven regions with 34 district offices and 133 reporting centres.As part of QCS' commitment to reducing the overrepresentation of Indigenous people in custody, QCS has permanent Community Corrections reporting offices in a number of remote Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities including Mornington Island, Normanton, Doomadgee, Thursday Island, Weipa, Aurukun, Cooktown, Palm Island and Woorabinda.
Community Corrections staff aim to protect the community and reduce re-offending by supervising individuals in the community in which they live and encouraging them to adopt more pro-social attitudes and behaviours.ResponsibilitiesManage and provide a variety of administrative functions and quality, confidential administrative support including diary management, organising meetings, book travel arrangements, answer general enquiries at reception and screen phone callsProvide support to staff on administrative issues and assist with the preparation of memorandums, reports and correspondence checking for formatting and grammatical errors and amend where necessaryPerform opening and closing procedureMaintain Human Resources functions including checking timesheets, submitting leave forms, assist with commencement paperwork for new employees and submission of documentation related to work cover claimsProvide basic training to administrative staff on office systemsUndertake procurement and financial processing duties including banking as required and manage petty cash and reconcile as directedRegister incoming and outgoing correspondence and maintain mail registerMaintain facilities and equipment, including performing stock-takes, maintenance of asset register and management of car fleetLiaise with internal and external agencies as requiredSite administrationMaintain the Agency electronic recording systemsEnsure the confidentiality and security of all files and documents and provide appropriate access to the files by relevant staff and approved external agenciesAssist with monitoring and maintaining the Integrated Offender Management System (IOMS) to ensure accurate statistics are available.The role description provides the minimum requirements for the role.
