**The key duties and responsibilities of the role include**:

- Maintaining systems and processes to ensure the office of the Deputy Director-General, DSC, operates to the highest standards of efficiency and effectiveness in generating outcomes against its accountabilities, and in accordance with the relative priorities.
- Managing the office of the Deputy Director-General, DSC, including overseeing and co-ordinating the Deputy Director-General's engagement activities and by being accountable for the timely flow of all executive and Ministerial correspondence, briefs, media responses, discussion papers and other responses sought that require urgent input, including by developing processes for monitoring workflow and identifying exceptions.
- Support the Deputy Director-General to maintain high quality (internal and external) relationships, including by participating in stakeholder meetings, taking responsibility for distributing outcome information and actions to members of the DSC Leadership Team and monitoring progress on actions arising from stakeholder engagement.
- Provide authoritative and strategic advice to the Executive Leadership Team on divisional governance, operational performance and risk, and ensure that all necessary operational planning and assurance measures are in place and compliant with legislation and best practice governance, including a fit-for-purpose governance structure.
- Support the broader DSC Leadership Team through provision of advice to ensure corporate governance and compliance obligations are met, as well as developing performance reports and directing in-depth reviews and audits in response to concerning trends or issues.
- Co-ordinate and oversee action on the implementation of recommendations arising from inquiries, audits and reviews, and report to the Executive Leadership Team on progress, risks and issues.
- Provide leadership in ensuring DSC is positioned to engage with and contribute to the objectives of the Reframing the Relationship Roadmap and Action Plan, and co-ordinate action in response to the demands of requests from the Truth-Telling and Healing Inquiry.
- Personally ensure the management and coordination of all high priority or sensitive Ministerial and executive documentation in an effective and timely manner, including reviewing and critically evaluating correspondence and briefings to ensure quality, relevance, appropriateness and compliance with departmental and relevant whole of government guidelines.
- Develop and maintain networks within the Department and across government to support the delivery of high quality executive services to the Deputy Director-General.
- Demonstrate leadership in a dynamic and change impacted work area, focussed on service excellence and client outcomes.
- Contribute effectively to the Government's and department's priorities and reform agenda, including by staying abreast of key reports, research and developments.
