The Salvation Homelessness Melbourne Metro is a large Salvation Army Homelessness provider in the inner city of Melbourne and provides a comprehensive range of residential & community services across six sites in St Kilda, Footscray, North Melbourne, West Melbourne and Kensington.

Homelessness Melbourne Metro is committed to providing person centred care, trauma informed practice and a strengths-based approach to improve the health, wellbeing and housing outcomes for people experiencing homelessness.

Why this role matters

We currently have an exciting opportunity for a values-driven Therapeutic Recreation Worker to be responsible for the planning and provision of Therapeutic recreation services to clients across both the Open Door and Flagstaff. The position will provide purposeful and careful facilitation of quality therapeutic recreational experiences for clients across the two facilities. You will use a high level of knowledge and skills to work collaboratively and proactively with the Community support Team, Case work Team and clients to ensure recreation as therapy is planned and meaningful.

- Ensuring the immediate needs of clients are met
- Providing an experience of home
- Establishing a culture of service delivery that is Client Centred, Strengths Based and Trauma Informed

This is a permanent full-time position located in West Melbourne. Salary and conditions are in accordance with the Social, Community, Home Care and Disability Services Award, Level 5.

What we're looking for
- Tertiary qualification in Recreation Therapy, Diversional Therapy or other relevant Tertiary qualification and experience in the social sector; including experience in delivering Therapeutic recreation
- A current VIC Drivers Licence
- Valid VIC Employee Working with Children Check
- Ability to provide proof of Eligibility to Work in Australia
