**Who are we?**

The Melbourne Cricket Club (MCC) has the public responsibility of managing one of the largest and the most successful stadiums in Australia and the world - the Melbourne Cricket Ground (MCG). The MCG is more than just a stadium, it's an Australian icon and a meeting place for generations past, present and future.

The MCG is host to more than 70 major events and attracts over four million visitors annually. The MCC is the largest sporting club in the country with over 150,000 members and also manages 14 sporting sections with participation over 2,600. The Australian Sports Museum (ASM) has its home at the MCG, celebrating the country's rich sporting history, which is also managed by the MCC.

**About the team and role**

The Commercial Operations & Partnerships Department is responsible for the MCC's marketing initiatives, communications, publicity, issues management, community partnerships, corporate sales, business development, advertising, merchandise and commercial arrangements with sponsors, suppliers and partners.

Due to a recent restructure of this department, we have a newly created job opportunity that we have aligned to our strategic plan, for an experienced **Corporate Affairs & Media Manager.** Reporting to the Executive Manager (EM) - Corporate Affairs, Marketing & Community, and the job goal is to develop, coordinate and implement the strategic communications program for the MCC, MCG and Australian Sports Museum. It is to ensure there is positive promotion of all brands, partnerships and businesses that fall under the MCC's management. The role will also work closely with the Executive Manager - Corporate Affairs, Marketing and Community to ensure effective reputation and issues management while amplifying key messages through owned and earned channels. There is one direct report.

This role has high profile across the business working closely with the CEO and Executive Leadership Team on all matters relating to communications, PR and providing critical advice in a crisis. In-addition this role will liaise with media departments at Cricket Australia, Cricket Victoria, Australian Football League and other relevant venue hirers to ensure that stakeholder and media requirements are met.

**Responsibilities that you will also lead & be involved in **(however not limited to)**:

- The positive promotion of the Club, Australian Sports Museum and MCG, its products and services
- Effective reputation and issues management
- Successfully connecting key people within the Club with Government, media, community and all other relevant stakeholders
- Delivering effective and targeted communications through all our channels to grow and engage our audiences
- Oversee the production and publication of the MCC's Annual Report.
- Ensure appropriate media monitoring and the delivery of coverage reports.
- Be one of the MCC spokespeople and handle media enquiries in an appropriate and timely manner, including arranging and conducting interviews, providing information and images.
- Ensure communications and PR activity is developed and executed aligned to the strategic objectives of the Club.
- Lead, coach and manage the Communications & Media Advisor

This role also has high visibility and liaises across the business and with key partners and stakeholders, including AFL, Cricket Australia, special event providers, MCG tenant clubs and the MCC's commercial partners to support cross-promotional opportunities.

Please note this role may be required to work outside of normal business hours aligned with the MCG's event day support system and on other activities that form a part of this role.

**You will bring to this role**

It is essential that you have had previous experience working as a Corporate Affairs and/or Media Manager in a similar industry with well-developed networks and deep expertise as a PR/communications professional. You will be a driven inspiring leader that has extensive relationship management experience, with proven ability to establish and build strong and collaborative partnerships with a broad range of stakeholders. In addition you will have outstanding communication skills both written and verbal with well-established presentation and influencing skills with the ability to convey messages clearly and with impact.
