Electro-Optical Systems Design Engineer
Safran Electronics & Defense Australasia Pty Ltd is a leading provider of high-performance optronics and inertial navigation equipment. We are looking for an Electro-Optical Systems Design Engineer to lead the design and development of next-generation electro-optical systems, focusing on system architecture definition, technology trade-offs, and performance evaluation.
Key Responsibilities:
Develop system architectures, evaluate key technologies, and lead the development of solutions that meet stringent performance and environmental requirements
Bring together diverse technologies into a coherent, integrated system through optics, image sensors, processing electronics, stabilisation mechanisms, and control algorithms
Lead comprehensive technical studies, including architecture definition, technology assessments, and performance evaluations
Develop models and simulations to predict system performance in operational environments, ensuring seamless integration and optimal functionality
Conduct thorough technology assessments and propose suitable solutions across optics, sensors, electronics, and mechanics
Requirements:
Bachelor's or Master's degree in Optics, Physics, Electrical/Electronic Engineering, or a related field
5+ years of experience in designing and developing optronic or electro-optical systems, with a proven track record of leadership and system-level integration challenges
Demonstrated ability to effectively manage and integrate technical design activities, driving successful project outcomes
