Join Open Minds as a part time Community Development Officer for our Strathpine **headspace centre **and make a significant difference in the community. In this role, you will build connections with the local community, including school and university groups, and key priority groups such as multicultural communities, First Nations communities and LGBTIA+ groups. Your responsibilities will include leading social media and marketing campaigns, as well as collaborating with our three main advisory groups, most importantly, leading our Youth Reference Group. By designing and delivering health promotion activities and events, you will play a key role in promoting early and meaningful access to health services and breaking down the stigma surrounding youth mental health.

You will be joining an energetic and high-performing and fun team that includes two other Community Development Officers based at Indooroopilly and Redcliffe, to collaborate with. This role would suit a recent graduate with a couple of years' experience in the field of youth mental health or alcohol/other drug social issues or anyone committed to mental ill-health prevention and community education. In addition, we're looking for:

- Degree in a discipline like Community Development, Health Promotion, Public Health, Social/Behavioural Science, and/or Social Work/Planning), **or** some experience in a related field.
- Demonstrated knowledge of working within a Community Development Framework
- Understanding of project management, with the ability to plan, develop, and implement youth engagement and community development initiatives.
- Sound knowledge of and capacity to implement effective community engagement, including the effective use of social media.

To be successful in this role you will be a people person who builds relationships easily and communicates clearly. This is a fun exciting role and a similar personality will serve your well.

You'll need some flexibility to travel around the Brisbane area, and to work after hours occasionally (including weekends and evenings).

Ideally you will also bring an understanding of the not-for-profit/non-government sector, in particular in relation to mental health.
- Current Driving Licence and reliable vehicle
- Hold or be eligible to obtain NDIS Worker Screening
- Hold of be eligible to obtain Working with Children Check (Blue Card)
- Ability to provide evidence of being fully vaccinated against Covid-19
