YMCA Wynnum Community Centre provide a safe and welcoming space for people to connect, have fun and receive support. The community Centre offer programs and events designed for the Wynnum Community to come together in a safe space, focusing on activities to support the community.
Communities have the opportunity to form friendships and develop their sense of self, wellbeing and confidence through social, cultural and recreational activities.
We are now seeking a **Permanent Full-Time Community Development Officer **to manage all aspects of the day-to-day operations including compliance with the requirements of the Department of Communities Management Agreement and applicable Laws and Regulations.
This position will play a pivotal role in establishing engagement and connection with the community and overseeing programs and initiatives running within the community centre.
**As a Community Development Officer your duties will include**:
- Capacity building for individuals and families to have access to support and advocacy services
- Promotional activities to create opportunities for the community
- Design, plan and deliver programs, services and events tailored to individual participants while focusing on their desired outcomes
- In reflection of the YMCA Social Impact Programs, effectively identify participant's goals and desired outcomes
- Provide culturally aware and appropriate services that promote equity and individualism
- Build meaningful connections with stakeholders such as services and other organisation to successfully deliver services and programs
- Accurate record keeping of each individual participant and ensure holistic/ efficient and outcome driven approach
- Community Centre Management and improvement
**To be considered for this position you must have the following**:
- Tertiary qualification in human services, social work, behavioural Science or related field
- Proven experience working with vulnerable individuals and communities
- Practical skills and proven record of community engagement and capacity building
- Sound computer literacy in Microsoft suite
- Strong communication and negotiation skills - verbal and written and have had experience with funding bodies
- Current First Aid and CPR certificate
- A current valid driver's license
- Currently possess, or be willing to obtain, a National Police Check and positive notice Blue Card in accordance with the Working with Children (Risk Management and Screening) Act 2000
**Remuneration & Benefits**:
Pay rate will be in accordance to the Social, Community, Home Care and Disability Services Industry Award 2010 plus the capacity to salary package if applicable. In addition, the YMCA offers many employee benefits including discounted child care, and access to YMCA fitness and recreation facilities.
