**About the Role**
The Aquatic Policy & Program Officer provides technical expertise and policy support for aquatic biosecurity initiatives. You'll drive priority projects and work closely with stakeholders to tackle challenges related to aquatic pests and diseases. You will use risk-based evidence to inform the development of policies that improve biosecurity and mitigate risk; support and conduct research; and collaborate with internal and external stakeholders, industry experts and community members to find practical solutions to priority aquatic biosecurity problems. You will prepare documents (including briefings, reports, risk assessments ad drafting of awareness materials and media releases), collect and analyse data and streamline processes to support efficient delivery and responses to aquatic biosecurity threats.
**About You**
- Tertiary qualifications in relevant aquatic, environmental, biological, veterinary or other related field
- Aquatic biosecurity knowledge and experience, particularly biosecurity risk management, legislation and standards
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to work independently and take initiative
- Effective communication and interpersonal skills
- Experience in project management and coordination
- Current NSW Driver Licence.
