Job Overview

The Aquatic Policy & Program Officer provides technical expertise and policy support for aquatic biosecurity initiatives. They drive priority projects, working closely with stakeholders to tackle challenges related to aquatic pests and diseases.

Using risk-based evidence, they inform the development of policies that improve biosecurity and mitigate risk. They support and conduct research, collaborate with internal and external stakeholders, industry experts, and community members to find practical solutions to priority aquatic biosecurity problems.

Key responsibilities include preparing documents, collecting and analysing data, and streamlining processes to support efficient delivery and responses to aquatic biosecurity threats.

Qualifications:

  • Tertiary qualifications in relevant fields such as aquatic, environmental, biological or veterinary sciences.
  • Aquatic biosecurity knowledge and experience, particularly biosecurity risk management, legislation, and standards.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to work independently and take initiative.
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Experience in project management and coordination.
  • A current NSW driver's licence.
