**ABOUT THE OPPORTUNITY**:
The General Manager's unit is responsible for the following functions within Council: Governance, Civic Events, Internal Audit, Risk Management, Work Health and Safety, as well as the provision of Executive Support to the Mayor, Councillors and General Manager. The Governance and Civic Events team lead Council's corporate governance and committee meetings and briefings, access to information, fraud and corruption prevention initiatives, Policy development and review, delegations administration, and the planning and implementation of Council's civic events such as Citizenship Ceremonies.

We have an exciting opportunity within our Governance team for a dynamic Governance and Civic Events Officer. Reporting to the Senior Coordinator Governance & Civic Events, the Governance and Civic Events Officer ensures that a high level of administration support is provided with regard to the planning and delivery of all Council meetings. The role provides administrative support to committees where required, and also assists with duties within the Governance department. This role also assists in the coordination and delivery of Civic and Corporate Events that contribute to profile and reputation of Cumberland City Council. This position works closely with stakeholders across all levels of the organisation to develop, coordinate and implement successful civic activities and events.

The successful applicant will require:

- Relevant business administration qualifications or the equivalent experience in a similar role
- Ability to assist in the timely completion of meeting agenda papers for Council and Committee meetings to a strict schedule in liaison with senior Council officials
- Proven organisational and meeting planning skills with meeting legislative deadlines
- Excellent Oral and Written communication skills, with high attention to detail
- High level knowledge and working experience with corporate systems such as MS office, TRIM or TechnologyOne ECM Electronic Document Management Systems
- Knowledge and understanding of meeting procedures
- Superior word processing and keyboard skills, including the ability to work under pressure and take live minutes in Council and Committee
- Experience working within the Local Government sector, including knowledge of protocols and procedures relating to Civic events and functions
- Demonstrated ability to make judgements or recommendations based on advanced analytical or creative thought.

**Position information**: This is a permanent, full-time position, working a 70 hour fortnight, with access to Council's 9 day fortnight Accrued Day Off (ADO) arrangement.

This role is predominantly located at Council's Merrylands office, and may be required to work across any of Council's designated work locations.

**Salary information**: The salary and conditions of employment are in accordance with the NSW Local Government (State) Award.
- Grade 9 of the Cumberland Salary Structure with a salary range of $1,323.58 to $1,522.12 per week, plus 10% superannuation
- The commencing salary will be negotiated, taking into consideration the successful applicant's qualifications, skills and experience related to the role.
