
Administrative Governance Specialist

This is a permanent, full-time role within the Governance team. The successful applicant will be responsible for providing administrative support to Council and various committees.
The team delivers effective education across the organisation on procurement and governance processes. They partner with various units to achieve the best outcomes for the organisation.
- Access to Information (GIPA) services
- Planning and executing civic events
- Policy and delegation management
- Providing governance advice
- Ensuring Council procurement activities comply with legislation and guidelines
- Delivering robust tender processes
- Managing contracts effectively
The Governance Coordinator will require:
- Relevant qualifications in business administration/local government or similar experience
- Experience in local government administration, including coordinating Council and Committee meetings
- Knowledge of meeting procedures and practices
- Preparing input for and coordinating business papers and taking minutes at Council meetings
- Administering and interpreting the Local Government Act and Regulations
- Providing sound governance advice and ensuring Council compliance
- Strong organisational and time management skills
- Interpersonal, written and communication skills
- Proven ability to operate in a complex political environment
- Knowledge of legislation related to information management and oversight of Access to Information requests
- Experience in coordinating Councillor briefings, workshops and civic events
- Working with Children Check
