
Manager, Development Tribunals

In this role you will be required to provide high level leadership and advice to:
- Use your legal experience to ensure guiding legislation is appropriately adhered to in the conduct and outcomes of the Development Tribunals process and statutory timeframes for the appeals process are met.
- Provide guidance to Tribunal Chairs and members in the drafting of hearing outcomes and decisions.
- Facilitate publication of sound and accurate Tribunal decisions for appellants including, where requested guidance to Tribunal Chairs and members in the drafting of hearing outcomes and decisions.
- Lead and deliver in-house training seminars and other communications with referees located across the state.
- Liaise and negotiate effectively with relevant stakeholders on matters related to the development and implementation of relevant policy and legislation.
- Provide specialist advice when reviewing material put forward by referees on building and development decisions.
- Lead and manage operation of the Development Tribunals team including selection of referees to determine individual appeals; organisation and conduct of hearings; review of draft appeal decisions and provision of high level legislative interpretation and advice to referees, appeal applicants, members of the general public, local governments and building industry professionals.
- Manage the periodic process of Cabinet approval of the appointment of new and recurring referees to meet demographic, technical skill and professional expertise requirements of appeals across the state.
- Manage Development Tribunals Right to Information requests and complaints responses for the department.
- Provide written and verbal advice, information, interpretations, briefings and reports to the Minister, Director-General, delegates and other key stakeholders including local government, state agencies, non-government organisations, industry and community groups.
- Implement continual process reviews and innovative technological improvements for Development Tribunals' service delivery to the Queensland public
