About Us
At Cancer Council Queensland, our mission is simple - to ensure no Queenslander is left navigating cancer alone. We do this through work in three key areas, cancer research, cancer prevention and early detection, and cancer support services

About The Role
The Women's Connect Program, proudly funded by Queensland Health, brings Queensland women and non-binary people together to connect with others who have a deep understanding of what it's like to live with cancer. As Facilitator, you will be responsible for establishing, developing and facilitating the Women's Connect program pilot, co-facilitating group and peer led psychosocial supports and assisting our Research and Internal Project Team with the co-design and evaluation of the program.

You Will Ensure That The Program Is Accessible, Culturally Safe, And Responsive To The Diverse Needs And Lived Experiences Of Priority Populations, Including

  • Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander People
  • People from culturally and linguistically diverse backgrounds
  • LGBTQIA+ people
  • People with disability
  • People living in regional, rural and remote communities

  • Experience in working closely with people and communities affected by cancer

  • An understanding of peer work, how to use lived experience appropriately, and experience in coordinating and facilitating community peer support programs
  • Experience in program development including the ability to contribute to program design, undertake needs analysis, engage stakeholders in consultation, and contribute to program evaluation.
  • A lived experience with cancer and willingness to appropriately share your lived experience is desired but not essential.

As a key focus of this role is to actively engage with these communities, applicants from priority populations or applicants with strong established connection with any priority populations, including Aboriginal & Torres Strait Islander peoples, Culturally & Linguistically Diverse communities, people with disability, LGBTQIA+ people, and Rural & Remote communities are strongly encouraged, and very welcome.
