About your role
As an Advanced Peer Worker (Identified), you'll draw upon your personal lived or living experience of mental health and/or substance use challenges to inspire hope, promote recovery, and support consumers in building skills, resilience, and community connection.
Key responsibilities include:
- Provide personalised peer support and practical assistance to consumers on their recovery journey.
- Share your lived experience to inspire hope and demonstrate that recovery is possible.
- Co-produce and co-facilitate therapeutic, educational, and training activities.
- Support consumers to identify and achieve meaningful recovery goals.
- Uphold professional and personal boundaries while modelling self-care and resilience.
About you
You're a compassionate, reflective person who uses your lived experience to support others with empathy and authenticity.
You will bring:
- Ability to share recovery experiences to inspire hope and model recovery principles.
- Experience in peer work, community services, or mental health support (highly desirable).
- Skills in planning, co-facilitating, and evaluating group or educational activities.
- Certificate IV in Mental Health Peer Work or willingness to obtain (highly desirable).
- Ability to work across multiple Metro South sites.
Under S25 of the Anti-Discrimination Act 1991, there is a genuine occupational requirement for the incumbent to have a personal lived/living experience of mental health challenges and/or substance use challenges.
