Our Infrastructure Planning & Delivery (IPD) Group is excited to be recruiting for a Manager Portfolio Governance .

The IPD Group contributes to Urban Utilities' purpose and enhances the liveability of our communities and safeguarding financial and economic sustainability of the business, through planning and delivering infrastructure to meet the needs of our customers and to manage the long-term water cycle and our environmental responsibilities.

The Manager Portfolio Governance provides leadership and oversight of the governance, assurance analysis and reporting of Urban Utilities' Capital Infrastructure Investment Portfolio over a 30-year horizon.

Through a team of internal specialists in investment coordination, portfolio controls, document controls and analytics, as well as through our integrated framework partners, the Manager Portfolio Governance ensures confidence that investment is accurately represented in budgets, plans and forecasts, with outcomes for liveability markers, service risk management and other benefits clearly articulated in investment optimisation, decision making and performance management.

Key Accountabilities:

  • Takes responsibility for the provision of portfolio, program and project investment management, portfolio controls, document management, performance assurance reporting and analytics, governance advisory and support services.
  • Advises on, maintains and continually improves portfolio, program and project controls, analytics and reporting systems, standards, procedures, methods, tools and techniques.
  • Through internal and partner capabilities, maintains a current forecast of the 30-year investment portfolio, providing expert advice to accountable leaders to ensure that this represents their best view of expected investment.
  • Leads the information standards for plans and investments, enabling effective analysis and reporting of portfolio information for the strategic planning and governance of the investment portfolio. Though a small team of data analytics professionals, facilitates Power BI and other analytics and reporting tools, ensuring accuracy, integrity, usability, compliance and assurance.
  • Leads the design and delivery of portfolio/program/project assurance functions, enabling the delivery of assurance reviews by independent third parties, and ensuring that appropriate actions are taken to resolve any issues identified to give senior stakeholders confidence that programs and projects can be delivered to time, budget, and quality.

About You:

We are seeking candidates who are passionate about shaping our future, and ideally have the following qualifications, skills and experience:

  • Tertiary qualification in Project Management, Engineering, Business, Commerce or other relevant discipline, and/or equivalent industry experience.
  • You have significant experience in a lead role for portfolio / program / project governance - establishing and leading controls and analytic services in support of a large portfolio of complex infrastructure projects - ideally within the engineering and/or construction sectors.
  • You'll be able to demonstrate how you've successfully lead high performing teams in developing and implementing innovative practices within the governance space - influencing stakeholders, working collaboratively with partners, achieving continuous improvement, and ensuring that investment optimisation and performance frameworks support key business objectives.
  • High level of expertise in systems and tools supporting portfolio controls and governance (eg Primavera P6, InEight Document / TRIM, Power BI), and the development and implementation of supporting investment lifecycle governance and procedures.
