Tourism and Events Queensland (TEQ) is a statutory body of the Queensland Government and the State's lead tourism marketing, destination and experience development and major events agency.

About the role
The Destination Events Leader is a permanent position that is responsible for the strategic management and leveraging of Homegrown Queensland's Destination Events Fund to build a unique and diverse calendar across the state.
Key duties
- Deliver initiatives aligned with TEQ's Event Strategy and Destination 2045.
- Manage the Homegrown fund lifecycle, including grants, contracts, and compliance.
- Lead strategic planning, risk management, and reporting for Destination Events.
- Build and maintain stakeholder relationships to grow event value and impact.
- Develop and implement marketing, feasibility, and investment strategies.
- Provide expert guidance, leadership, and representation across the events portfolio.

For this role, we will consider your
- Highly developed people and project management skills with the ability to manage multiple and competing priorities.
- Comprehensive knowledge of the regional, national and international events landscape with experience managing an event investment program.
- Well-developed understanding of legal and contractual requirements with the ability to negotiate commercial contracts.
- Strong analytical, strategic thinking and planning skills with experience in event development.
- Proven ability to build and maintain relationships with a variety of stakeholders with the ability to recognise and deal with politically sensitive and confidential issues.
- Tertiary qualifications in Arts, Business, Tourism, Event Management or related discipline.
