The Assistant Manager position (Tax & Accounting) Will assist the management, development and administration of a portfolio of clients. This involves maintaining a high level of service to clients and producing a high standard of work.

This role represents a progressive management position with the long-term opportunity to lead the accounting practice and team as a Partner.

Our client aims to provide a collaborative work environment with a strong focus on client service. We are a multi-disciplinary business that worksclosely with small to medium sized businesses and high net worth individuals. We provide accounting, wealth and CFO Advisory services to help our clients achieve their financial goals.

ABOUT THE ROLE:

This position will have responsibility for the following:

  • Support the provision of accounting advice and services to a diverse client portfolio
  • Preparation of management reports, financial statements and tax returns for individuals, partnerships, companies, trust clients and super funds
  • Analysis of client data and preparation and review of work papers
  • Coordinate and review work undertaken by accounting team members, as well as produce the final documents to be delivered to divisional partner and presented to clients
  • Consult with various statutory authorities on behalf of clients including the ATO and ASIC
  • Collaboration with the wider team (wealth management and mortgage broker services) to ensure consistent and quality advice is delivered to clients
  • Work closely with the Managing Director and the wider team to respond to client queries and ensure that client work is completed within the timeframe allocated
  • Preparation of correspondence to clients and other bodies as required
  • Assisting with business development process, including potential and new client opportunities such as attending client meetings and presentations

WHAT WE NEED FROM YOU:

To be successful in this role you will have the following skills and attributes:

  • Bachelor degree in Commerce, Business or Accounting, including with a discipline in Finance
  • CA or CPA completed
  • Technically proficient and up to date with developments in taxation law and accounting standards, systems and processes
  • Advanced working knowledge of GST, Business Activity Statements and Instalment Activity Statements
  • Displays a detailed understanding of company secretarial matters such as lodgements, fees and general requirements
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Strong organisational skills and attention to detail
  • Innovates processes to make things easier and simpler to process
  • Proactive, self-motivated and enthusiastic
  • Ability to work to tight reporting deadlines and prioritise workload
  • 5+ years' experience in a similar role, preferably in an accounting practice
  • Experience in MYOB and Xero required
