We are partnering with a leading accounting and advisory firm to find an experienced finance professional to lead their Business Services and Outsourced CFO team. This is a dynamic, high-impact role that goes beyond traditional accounting – you'll act as a trusted advisor, delivering strategic insights, financial leadership, and mentoring to both clients and team members.
We are open to candidates who have held CFO or Financial Controller roles in SMEs, as well as those with advisory experience.
About the Role
You will manage a portfolio of SME and family office clients, stepping in as a virtual CFO to drive cashflow, strategy, and performance improvement across multiple industries. This role combines client advisory, compliance oversight, team leadership, and business growth initiatives.
Key Responsibilities
Client Advisory
- Act as a strategic partner to clients, providing insights, financial modelling, and reporting tailored for executive and board-level decision-making.
- Drive budgeting, cashflow management, KPI monitoring, and scenario analysis to support business growth.
- Collaborate closely with business owners, CEOs, and founders to improve operational efficiency, profitability, and strategic outcomes.
- Assist clients with capital strategies, investor communications, valuations, and banking matters where required.
Business Services & Compliance
- Oversee the preparation and review of financial statements, management accounts, and tax filings.
- Ensure all statutory and regulatory obligations are met, including BAS, GST, FBT, payroll, and superannuation.
- Maintain up-to-date knowledge of Australian accounting standards and tax legislation to guide compliant and effective client solutions.
- Identify opportunities to add value through advisory services, tax incentives, and business structuring initiatives.
Leadership & Team Management
- Lead and coach a team of accountants and analysts, fostering professional development and technical growth.
- Allocate resources and manage workflows to consistently meet client expectations and deadlines.
- Cultivate a collaborative, high-performance team culture focused on exceptional client service.
Skills & Experience Required
- CA/CPA qualified (or equivalent).
- 5+ years' experience
- Strong technical grounding in accounting, tax, and financial reporting.
- Commercial acumen and ability to deliver insights beyond compliance
- Experience managing and mentoring junior staff.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
