Principal HSSE Training and Communications

We are currently seeking an experienced Principal HSSE Training & Communications for one of our key client in the Energy sector. This strategic role is instrumental in driving health, safety, security, and environmental (HSSE) performance through targeted training, capability development, and internal communications initiatives.
The successful candidate will provide leadership and subject matter expertise in identifying and addressing training and competency needs across the organisation. This includes designing and implementing end-to-end HSSE training programs and communication strategies that promote a culture of safety and continuous improvement, all in alignment with the company's values and management systems.

Key Responsibilities:
- Serve as the subject matter expert for HSSE training and communications, offering strategic direction and operational support.
- Identify organisational training and capability gaps in collaboration with HSSE and technical experts.
- Design and implement enterprise-wide HSSE training and communication strategies, including regulatory compliance programs, high-risk competencies, and leadership development initiatives.
- Oversee the development and delivery of key training programs such as company inductions, Frontline Safety Leadership, STRIVE, and specialist/high-risk HSSE training.
- Maintain and enhance the HSSE technical competency framework, integrating it into broader organisational training structures.
- Ensure optimal use of the company's learning management system (LMS) to manage, monitor and forecast training needs and compliance.
- Produce engaging and effective training materials—presentations, manuals, and digital content—to support learning and capability uplift.
- Lead the planning and execution of key HSSE communication campaigns, awareness initiatives, and cultural improvement programs.
- Establish governance and performance measurement systems to track the effectiveness and legal compliance of all training and communication activities.
- Engage with industry bodies, regulators, and external networks (e.g., Safer Together, IOGP, AEP) to ensure alignment with best practice and legislative changes.
Ideal Candidate Profile:
- Minimum 5 years' experience in a HSSE training and capability development role, ideally within the resources or energy sector.
- Demonstrated expertise in designing, delivering, and managing large-scale training programs, with a focus on compliance and risk mitigation.
- Strong facilitation and communication skills, with the ability to influence and engage stakeholders at all levels.
- Solid understanding of HSSE systems and standards, including ISO 45001 and ISO 14001.
- Experienced in using LMS and digital learning tools to deliver and track competency programs.
Key Qualifications:
- Tertiary qualifications in training & development, occupational health & safety, communications, or related discipline.
- Certificate IV in Training and Assessment – essential.
