Part-Time Medical Receptionist – Illawarra Family Medical Centre (Wollongong, NSW)

Are you an experienced and highly organised Medical Receptionist looking for a flexible, part-time role in a welcoming and supportive environment.

At Illawarra Family Medical Centre, we're looking for a friendly and professional individual to be the welcoming face of our practice. As the first point of contact for our patients, you'll play a vital role in delivering excellent service and supporting the smooth day-to-day running of our practice.

What you'll be doing:

  • Greeting patients warmly and managing enquiries in person and over the phone
  • Scheduling and managing appointments using our practice management system (Best Practice)
  • Maintaining financial records, processing patient payments, and processing Medicare claims.
  • Keeping the reception area tidy and presentable
  • Supporting the medical team with administrative tasks
  • Ensuring patient confidentiality and following data protection protocols

What we're looking for:

  • Previous experience as a medical receptionist or in a customer service role in healthcare
  • Ability to multitask effectively in a fast-paced, dynamic environment
  • Excellent communication skills, with a warm and professional manner
  • Strong organisational and time management abilities
  • Proficiency in using medical software particularly Best Practice and general computer systems
  • A caring, empathetic approach with a genuine interest in patient wellbeing
  • High attention to detail and discretion when handling sensitive information
  • A proactive team player who shows initiative
  • Availability to work a mix of early starts (from 7:00am) or later finishes (up to 7:00pm)
