The opportunityThe Manager, Revenue Policy, Privacy and Freedom of Information leads a team which provides authoritative revenue policy advice to the Victorian Government, contributes to the development of legislation to give effect to agreed proposals, and is responsible for various corporate functions, including freedom of information and privacy.

Reporting to the Director, Policy and Legislation, you will be responsible for:

  • Managing a small team,
  • providing policy advice on revenue administration,
  • supporting the SRO's Privacy Officer, by responding to minor incidents and complaints and overseeing the preparation of privacy impact assessments,
  • overseeing the SRO's freedom of information function.

Who we are looking forTo be successful in this role, you will have:

  • Demonstrated ability to lead, manage and mentor team members
  • Demonstrated expertise in the interpretation and application of legislation in a complex legal, commercial, and political environment including FOI, privacy, equal opportunity, and human rights laws
  • Demonstrated expertise in developing policy proposals, preferably in a taxation environment and an understanding of Government, Parliamentary and legislative processes.
  • Demonstrated high-level communication skills to consult, negotiate and advocate with stakeholders and to meet stakeholder and customer needs
  • Demonstrated high-level conceptual, analytical, and problem-solving skills to identify and initiate process improvements and contribute to legislative reforms
