About Us

Porgies Café is a popular community café with a seating capacity of 80, renowned for its

great coffee, delicious food, and welcoming atmosphere. As we expand into evening dining

and function catering, we need a skilled Chef to help bring our culinary vision to life.

The Role

As a Chef, you will assist in preparing and cooking high-quality dishes, maintain kitchen

hygiene standards, and work closely with the kitchen team to ensure smooth daily

operations.

Key Responsibilities

 Prepare and cook menu items to high standards

 Assist in planning menus and seasonal dishes

 Maintain food quality, portion control, and presentation

 Follow food safety and hygiene regulations

 Support kitchen operations and assist in training junior staff

 Help manage inventory and food costs

About You

 Proven experience as a Chef in a café or restaurant environment

 Strong knowledge of food preparation techniques and hygiene standards

 Creative and passionate about delivering excellent dishes

 Good communication and teamwork skills

 Ability to work in a busy, fast-paced environment

AJCHC Pty Ltd, trading as Porgies Café, is looking for a dedicated Chef to join our busy

café in Hawthorn. This role is perfect for someone passionate about food, creative in the

kitchen, and committed to delivering high-quality dining experiences.

Responsibilities

 Prepare and cook menu items according to café standards

 Assist with menu planning and seasonal specials

 Maintain food hygiene and safety compliance

 Support daily kitchen operations and team workflow

 Assist in managing stock and inventory

 Help train and guide junior kitchen staff

Requirements

 Experience as a Chef in a café or restaurant

 Knowledge of food preparation techniques and hygiene regulations

 Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced kitchen

 Team player with good communication skills

 Creative approach to food and presentation
