Perth Montessori is seeking a passionate and versatile secondary teacher to join our Adolescent Program from Term 1, 2026. This full-time role offers the opportunity to work within a collaborative, supportive team, guiding and mentoring young people in a multi-age advisory class for Years 7–9.
About Us
Perth Montessori is an independent, non-denominational school in Burswood, WA, providing education from early childhood to Year 12. Our Adolescent Program (Years 7–12) combines the Montessori philosophy with the Big Picture Learning Design to create a personalised, project-based, and real-world approach to secondary education.
Perth Montessori places a high priority on child safety and all staff are required to adhere to the Child Safe Standards, Child Protection Policy and the Staff Code of Conduct.
The Role
In collaboration with teaching colleagues, you will be responsible for supporting Year 9s as they transition towards Senior School. This is a collaborative role in a small, multi-disciplinary team where flexibility, creativity and strong relationships are central.
While we will consider applicants from all teaching specialisations, expertise in English and HASS is highly desirable. Experience with Montessori, Big Picture Learning, or other project-based, student-centred approaches will be an advantage.
You Will:
- Work with adolescents in a small, multi-age learning community.
- Design and deliver learning that is personalised, project-based and authentic.
- Support students to develop independence, resilience, and responsibility as learners.
- Collaborate with colleagues across disciplines to create integrated and meaningful learning experiences.
- Contribute to a nurturing, inclusive, and respectful school culture.
What We Offer:
- An innovative program combining Montessori and Big Picture Learning.
- Supportive colleagues and a strong sense of community.
- Opportunities for professional development and growth.
- Small class sizes with meaningful student-teacher relationships.
About You:
- A registered teacher (or eligible for registration) with the TRBWA.
- Experienced in adolescent education and personalised learning.
- Experience and training in Montessori and Big Picture is highly desirable.
- A reflective practitioner, open to collaboration and professional growth.
- A strong communicator who builds positive relationships with students, families and colleagues.
Perth Montessori is an equal opportunity employer. We encourage people with disability, Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people, and persons from culturally diverse backgrounds to apply.
How to Apply
Interested candidates should provide:
- A covering letter of not more than two pages, addressing their suitability for the position based on the job description above;
- An up-to-date CV detailing their qualifications, skills and experience relevant to the position; and
- The names of 2 professional referees, including a principal or line manager.
Application Deadline
The closing date for applications is 22 September 2025 at 9 am. We encourage early submissions, as Perth Montessori reserves the right to proceed with an ideal candidate ahead of the deadline.
For further information, please conact the principal, Sally Alderton, on or email
