Overview

Assistant in Nursing (AIN) at Perth Children's Hospital (PCH) within the Child and Adolescent Health Service (CAHS) is a key member of a multidisciplinary team, providing general patient care under the direction of a Registered Nurse (RN). Located within the Surgical Services directorate, the role supports the delivery of coordinated and family-centred care. As an AIN, you will perform duties in accordance with the AIN Scope of Practice and contribute to a safe work environment by following hospital policies and procedures.

Responsibilities
  • Provide general patient care under the direction of a Registered Nurse (RN).
  • Assist with a range of patient care tasks and contribute to a safe and clean work environment by following hospital policies and procedures.
  • Support delivery of coordinated, family-centred care within the multidisciplinary team.
Pathways to Employment (AIN)
  • Non-Student Pathway: Certificate III in Health Services Assistance - Acute Care.
  • Student Pathway: Evidence of successful completion with academic good standing of a Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia (NMBA) approved program of study for either:
    • Semester 1 to 3 (50% completion) of Bachelor of Nursing program.
    • Semester 1 to 4 (50% completion) of dual Bachelor of Science (Nursing) / Bachelor of Science (Midwifery) program.
    Eligibility and Selection
    • Australian citizenship or permanent residency is essential for permanent positions in the public sector. Fixed-term and/or casual contracts may be held by individuals on visas that allow working rights within Australia.
    • Working With Children Check (WWC) is required.

    Additional Information
    • To be employed, you must be employable as an AIN under the WA Health AIN Policy via the AIN (student) or AIN (non-student) pathway.
    • Documents to attach: current resume with two professional referees (at least one a recent supervisor/line manager) and evidence of required qualification(s).
    • Working With Children Check and eligibility requirements apply; refer to WWC website for details.
    • There is a recruitment pool for permanent and term appointments with the possibility of extension or permanency.
