The Opportunity
As the Financial Hardship & Vulnerability Specialist you will be an integral part of our Mortgage Help team, responsible for a portfolio of borrower's accounts that are experiencing financial hardship or vulnerability.
Your primary responsibility will be to work with the borrowers and/or their third-party representatives including financial counsellors, to assess whether hardship assistance is appropriate and provide tailored options for borrowers to consider.
You will work collaboratively with stakeholders internal and external with a view to providing holistic options for customers and provide consistently exceptional customer service.
Key to your success in this role, will be your ability to demonstrate empathy and respect for our customers, ensuring the provision of support and advocating on their behalf.
Key Responsibilities
- Identify borrowers that are experiencing financial hardship and ensure that appropriate assistance is provided in a timely and legally compliant manner
- Read and analyse financial statements and statements of financial position to determine the change in customer circumstances since loan origination, adhering to legislation, timelines and guidelines
- Champion customer service excellence by demonstrating respect and empathy every interaction with our borrowers
- Provide timely communication to our borrowers and other expert support partners and third parties
About You
- Minimum of three (3) years' experience in a similar role, ideally in mortgages
- Strong knowledge of the relevant legislation
- Knowledge of ASIC collections procedure, together with hardship assistance guidelines would be an advantage
- Relevant industry experience together with AML awareness, willingness to complete NCCP and Privacy Act Training
- Excellent negotiating and decision-making ability
- Strong organisational and time management with the ability to meet required deadlines
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
