Purpose:
To strategically plan, implement, and manage local
development, community, and tourism services and initiatives to enhance the
liveability, vibrancy, and sustainability of the Maranoa region.
Partner with the community, government, and businesses
to:
- Create
a welcoming environment and make it easy for residents, visitors, and
stakeholders to engage with Council. - Attract
new tourism opportunities to the region while supporting the sustainability of
existing tourism operators and community programs. - Facilitate
programs that support regional needs, including the growth and retention of
community participation in sport, tourism and community events/activities. - Review
and continually improve the Maranoa Regional Council liveability strategy to
ensure a positive lifestyle for all residents of the Maranoa. - Foster
strong relationships with community groups, tourism sector, sporting
organisations, and other stakeholders to deliver programs and initiatives that
strengthen community connections and resilience. - Promote
and support the development of sport and recreation opportunities to encourage
active and healthy lifestyles across the region.

Qualifications and Licences:
Mandatory Qualifications and Licences:
To be successful, you will need to demonstrate that you meet the below mandatory requirements for the role:
- Tertiary
Qualifications in a relevant discipline (e.g., Community Development, Tourism,
Sport and Recreation, Business, Local Government) and/or significant relevant
experience. - Current
C (Car) Class Driver Licence
Required Skills and Experience:
- Demonstrated
expertise in community development, tourism, sport and recreation, events, and
identifying emerging trends and opportunities to enhance regional liveability
and sustainability. - Proven
ability to develop, maintain, and grow strategic alliances with key community
groups, sporting organisations, public and private sector organisations, and
individuals. - Highly
developed written and oral communication skills, with the ability to
communicate effectively at all levels, including preparing a wide range of
communication materials with high attention to detail. - Creative
and strategic thinking skills, with the ability to develop and implement
innovative solutions that align with community development, tourism, and sport
and recreation principles. - Proven
experience in managing budgets, including securing sponsorship and grants from
public and private sector organisations. - Strong
organisational and planning skills, with the ability to prioritise, manage
competing demands, and oversee multiple projects and tasks to meet deadlines. - Demonstrated
leadership and management skills, including the ability to lead and support a
multidisciplinary team (e.g., Community Development, Tourism, and Sport &
Recreation team) and contribute to the organisation's senior management team. - Commitment
to a team-based approach, with the ability to work cooperatively within a team
environment to achieve Council's goals and departmental work program
objectives. - Demonstrated
ability to work collaboratively with community groups, sporting organisations,
and other stakeholders to deliver programs and initiatives that strengthen
community connections and resilience. - Alignment
with Council values, demonstrating a strong commitment to Maranoa Regional
Council's values and team goals. - Previous
experience in local government or a similar environment is highly regarded but
not essential.
