We're on the lookout for a genuine, compassionate, and down-to-earth support worker to join our Mount Isa team.
At RedDoor Community Services, we're a small, specialised NDIS provider known for going the extra mile. We design tailored care plans in close consultation with clients and their support networks, ensuring each person is empowered, engaged, and supported to live their best life.
We're seeking an experienced and caring support worker to provide both SIL house shifts and community-based supports.
Key Responsibilities
- Take a real interest in our clients, showing passion for supporting and inspiring others.
- Provide sensitive, respectful support to people with disabilities – most of our clients live with psychosocial disabilities and may have experienced trauma.
- Undertake sleepover shifts and light personal care where required.
- Mentor and encourage younger clients, including with employment and life skills.
- Transport clients safely using RedDoor company vehicles.
- Plan and participate in meaningful activities and social outings, as well as daily living tasks such as meal preparation, and domestic duties.
- Build and maintain positive, professional relationships with clients, families, and community stakeholders.
- Complete accurate records and electronic checklists for every appointment.
Qualifications, Skills & Experience
- Previous experience in disability support, aged care, youth work, or a related field (very desirable)
- Relevant qualifications are an advantage but not essential.
- Strong communication skills and patience when supporting clients with complex needs.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team.
- Sound organisational and time-management skills.
- Blue and Yellow Card clearance, and current First Aid.
- Problem-solving ability and resilience.
- Current driver's licence.
What We Value
- A genuine passion for working with people and helping them reach their potential.
- Openness to personal growth and feedback.
- Flexibility to adapt to client and organisational needs.
- Understanding of the challenges faced by people with psychosocial disabilities and disadvantaged youth.
- Cultural awareness and a non-judgemental attitude.
- Full availability for week day, weekend and sleepover shifts.
- Willingness to learn and embrace RedDoor's unique support approaches.
What We Offer
- Highly competitive hourly rates, with penalties and allowances.
- Access to not-for-profit salary packaging benefits.
- Self-paced online training and development.
- Personalised mentoring – not one-size-fits-all training.
- Use of company vehicles for client transport.
- A chance to focus on people, not paperwork – we minimise red tape so you can do what you do best.
- A supportive, inclusive team with open communication and a strong sense of community.
