Anti-Money Laundering Specialist

Location – Sydney or Melbourne preferred, anywhere in Australia for the right person

We are seeking an Anti-Money Laundering Specialist to ensure Allied Credit Group remain compliant with the Anti-Money Laundering and Counter-Terrorism Financing Act 2006, relevant financial crime laws, AUSTRAC regulations and industry best practices. You will be monitoring our portfolio transactions, conducting financial crime risk assessments and liaising with internal stakeholders and external regulatory bodies to mitigate money laundering and terrorism financing risks.

What you will be doing


• Assisting with developing, implementing and maintaining the company's AML/CTF compliance program, ensuring it meets and aligns with regulatory requirements and industry standards.


• Leading the company-wide management and oversight of the Customer Due Diligence (CDD) process, including escalation handling and Enhanced Due Diligence (EDD) for high-risk customers.


• Management and oversight of the Transaction Monitoring Program, including the ongoing monitoring of loan transactions and the submission of Suspicious Matter Reports (SMRs) to AUSTRAC.


• Conducting regular risk assessments of customers, loan products and services to identify and mitigate potential AML/CTF risks.


• Supporting the development and delivery of AML/CTF training for staff and introducers to ensure compliance with internal policies and regulatory requirements.


• Preparing and submitting reports to AUSTRAC and to internal stakeholders, highlighting key risks, trends and emerging issues.


• Managing and maintaining internal policies and procedures related to AML/CTF compliance.


• Participating in internal and external audits on the AML/CTF program and implement corrective actions as needed.


• Supporting the wider Risk & Compliance team activities and projects as required

Your background


• Qualifications in Law, Finance, Business or a related discipline.


• Certification in Anti-Money Laundering (e.g., ACAMS, ICA, or equivalent) is highly desirable.


• Solid experience in Financial Crime and AML/CTF compliance (line 2 advantageous), preferably within the financial services sector.


• Experience in the consumer/ automotive finance industry would be warmly regarded.


• In-depth knowledge of AML/CTF legislation and regulatory requirements in Australia.


• Strong analytical and investigative skills with proficiency in compliance software and Microsoft Office suite/


• Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
