About the role

We are seeking an experienced Mechanical Engineering Draftsperson to join our team at Howard Porter in Spearwood, Western Australia.

As an Advanced Mechanical Engineering Draftsperson - Capital Equipment, you will play a crucial role in the research design and development of our state-of-the-art capital equipment, utilising your strong technical skills and expertise in mechanical engineering research, design, drafting and testing.

This full-time position offers an exciting opportunity to contribute to the growth and success of our innovative organisation by setting new standards in innovative R&D for the Company.

What you'll be doing

  • Producing high-quality, detailed engineering drawings and 3D models for capital equipment and components,
  • Conducting research, analysis and feasibility studies to support the development of new and improved products seeking lighter weight with durability,
  • Collaborating with engineering teams to interpret design specifications and translate them into accurate technical drawings
  • Identifying and resolving technical issues, providing feasible recommendations for design improvements,
  • Investigating and researching alternative supplies and fitted parts that may offer weight, innovation and/or durability advantages to further satisfy our customers needs,
  • Ensuring all engineering documentation and drawings adhere to relevant industry standards (ADR) and company policies
  • Providing technical support and guidance to manufacturing and production teams
  • Staying up-to-date with the latest industry trends, technologies and best practices in mechanical engineering and the innovative design and draft of transport solutions.

What we're looking for

  • Tertiary qualification in Mechanical Engineering or a related technical discipline
  • Minimum 5 years' experience as a Mechanical Engineering Draftsperson, ideally within the capital equipment industry
  • Super proficient in the use of CAD software, i.e Inventor and Solid works and with sound understanding of FEA and other innovative practices,
  • Excellent understanding of engineering principles, manufacturing processes and industry standards
  • Strong attention to detail and the ability to produce accurate, high-quality technical drawings
  • Effective problem-solving and critical thinking skills
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively within a team
