Cowra Meat Processors (CMP) is a well-established, locally owned abattoir and export facility, employing a diverse workforce across production, livestock, logistics, and administration. We are seeking a proactive Payroll Officer to join our operations team in Cowra.

This is a hands-on and varied position that goes beyond payroll — ideal for someone who enjoys working in a dynamic environment where every day is different. Reporting to the Operations Manager, this position is responsible for the accurate and efficient enetering of payroll while also providing general administrative support across the operational and production functions of the business. You will also play a key role in assisting with the rollout and development of our new payroll system, helping to streamline and modernise processes.

Key duties include:

  • End-to-end weekly and fortnightly payroll processing for multiple employee groups
  • Assisting in the implementation, testing, and training for the new payroll system
  • Maintaining accurate employee records, timesheets, and award interpretations
  • Supporting HR administration, recruitment, and induction activities
  • Assisting with general administrative and operational tasks across departments
  • Liaising with management, supervisors, and staff on payroll and HR-related matters
  • Supporting operations and production with toolbox talks, staff training, staff housing.
About You
  • Experience in payroll and/or administration roles (manufacturing or agricultural setting desirable)
  • Sound understanding of the Fair Work Act and award interpretation (Meat Industry Award preferred)
  • Strong computer skills with experience in payroll software and Microsoft Office
  • Excellent attention to detail, confidentiality, and communication skills
  • A positive, team-focused attitude and willingness to assist across the business
